The first class, as
well as sessions 1-16, will be open for individual
students who are not participating in the entire
AP.

This 19 session program, taught over a period of
five months, includes a comprehensive medicinal herb program
that will acquaint you with approximately 200 plants, their
actions and how we can best make them our true green
friends. Classes will meet on Fridays and some
Saturdays from 10:00am – 4:30pm
The apprentice Program ( AP) will be a
comprehensive study of herbalism.
It will
entail a five month commitment from all participants.
We will meet one-two times a week for a full day's
class.
Participants are
asked to bring a pot-luck dish to share. Classes include:

Herbal Terminology/open discussions
-
Herbal teas & herbal snacks made from the plants we are
studying
-
Charts and additional informative handouts
-
Weekly garden walks, including my 5 acre property and
the local area.

Resources for supplies, seeds, local nurseries, books,
organizations, etc.
-
Field trips to the Ladybird Johnson Wildflower Center,
the Natural Gardener and other herbal events
-
Occasional guest herbalists/speakers
-
Weekly quizzes, homework
assignments and student projects

Work Study Opportunity
Ellen
will be interviewing interested participants who are
eligible to participate in the EZ Herbs Apprentice
Work/Study program.
Interviews will be on Tues,
Aug 16th
& Wed. Aug. 17th
This entitles you to pay ½ of the tuition
($637.50) and work off the balance by working in my herb
shop/garden at the rate of $10.00 an hour.
The
W/S participant is expected to work 3-4 hrs each week to
fulfill their commitments. Students applying for this
position should have a willingness to work in the garden
(some previous gardening experience is preferred),
organizational skills, a willingness to learn product
making, labeling and all other work required in the herb
shop.
In addition, computer skills, marketing
experience and sales experience is preferred.

Materia Medica of approximately 200 herbs and study
these according to their corresponding bodily system.

native to our Central Texas environment as well as herbs
that have naturalized, or grow well here.

Learn how to properly prepare medicinal infusions
and decoctions, herbal oils, salves, tinctures,
compresses, poultices, syrups, herbal candy and more.

Learn how to determine high quality herbs and where to
purchase them.
